I think that there are many people like myself waiting with baited breath for an announcement from the MCR about its future plans. Thomas.

I can understand the taking up of the sidings at Leekbrook because of wear but why has the line going toward Leek been lifted ?

I should think it's for the same reason, its life expired. If and when trains return to Leek it would require decent track for passenger trains to run at normal speeds. Thomas.

How far has the clearing up of the Caldon branch line progressed it seems to have gone quiet again. Has the drainage around the tunnel been done and when will the trains start running up there again.

Wow, what great events are being planned for November, any suggestions for the mystery steam and diesel engines. Will the other S160 be ready by then.?

The ballasting has started on the Cauldon line, from the gates up round the bends, I don't know how far but it looks great what they have done. Has anyone got any photos of it yet.

Gala cancelled ? I thought as much it was taking to long to announce it. Was it because of the problems with the last one?

Why is there so much secrecy in the clearency of the line to Endon?. Is it because of the opposition from opponents of the line reopening? When is it expected to start running freight or through passenger trains to the CVR from Stoke, it seems to be making slow progress. Very little news is put on their website but everything seems to come from the local paper i.e. Cheadle branch reopening, it's no wonder that anti railway people are up in arms.

Don't think there is any deliberation in keeping it a secret. It's very hard to hide it anyway. :-) I understand there were a few minor glitches in the legal signing over which caused a delay in commencement until now but that is all settled now. Again, I am speaking from what I have heard here and there and not official quotes. I am not aware of many objections from the public on the Stoke branch. There has been objections about the Alton proposals but can't say I have heard much protesting about Stoke. Every single person I have met while walking along the line has expressed excitement about the line re-opening, so it's probably a case of the minority grumbling again trying to spoil it for the majority.
