Does anyone know why the siding at Cheddleton platform 2 has never been completed, I thought it was because the signal was in the way but there seems to have been no attempt to move it yet. Any ideas? Thomas

The steelwork for the signal has now arrived on the railway so hopefully it will be started in the near future and the siding will be finished. Although I believe that some of the sleepers have now been used in road 2 in the shed,so perhaps the siding has slipped down the priorites again. Thomas.

Progress is being made on the signal in the shed and I've heard of a date in July for it to be put up and the siding to be laid. The missing sleepers are at Froghall and have been bought from donations by people in response to an appeal in the Knotty, so many thanks to them. When you look back over the last year a lot of small things have been done to improve the railway, like the 2 platform 2s, Froghall and Consall so nows the time to get Cheddleton doneand perhaps extend both the platforms there. Does anyone know what is happening to the signal for Cheddleton siding? Not long ago it was going great guns but once again it appears on the back burner, it seems a great pity when we seem to be so short of stock sidings that no progress seems to be made. Is this part of the platform extension program which looks like it's in Limbo or is it a seperate issue?.Thomas

At last there seems to be progress on the signal for rhe Cheddleton siding with a provisional date for November. Not bad it's only taken 2 years to do, hopefully the siding will go in shortly after. It will be good to see it in use once again even if it's only to store stock in, at least there will be some movement there. Thomas.
