Rummaging around the other day I came across a strip of old colour negatives and discovered they were taken a long time ago at Cheddleton. Maybe 1970's? I have no idea really. But I am sure they may be of slight interest to CVR enthusiasts. The period seemed to be when the station was still being developed as the bay platform was not there then. Can anyone put a date to them? The saddle tank I haven't a clue which it is. It looks a bit like a scruffy-looking 'Austerity' but is stripped of all numbers and 'fancy painting' :-) It may have been ready to be refurbished and repainted perhaps, but which loco is it exactly? The other is a Cammel Shunter number D2962. Again, I can't find any info in the Guide about this one so again, can anyone explain a little more? I have the originals scanned in high resolution but the film is terribly grainy and was probably why I threw it out those many years ago. Obviously as historical reference material they are probably worth keeping now regardless of the film condition. Please contact me if you would like high res copies e-mailed. Please respect their source though and acknowledgment would be welcome if they are used.

Barry, The Austerity is 3777/52 painted in Madder Lake and named Josiah Wedgwood better known now as 68030 which should be back at the railway soon. The 0-4-0 shunter is Cammel one of the 2 shunters that worked at Oakamoor the other one is Brightside. Thomas.

Barry, Thomas is not quite correct, The Camel we see here left us a long time ago and is now under restoration in Tyneside If I remember correctly and is actually one of 4 diesel shunters from Oakamoor, the others being the white class 07, Brightside and Cammell (Note differnt spelling) the last two with us. Class 07 003 was sadly cut up on site after it went bang one day. If I can find it, it will be sent on to Andy so he can add it to the CVR-extra site if he wishes (fits in with the aims etc). I also may take to task that the sadle tank is infact "Shropshire" (No 193 built 1953) but I couldn't say for certain. Again, someone like Andy or Ian Bowland may be able to confirm (Although I think from what Andy has said, it was gone prior to him starting) but it is Terry driving, that is for sure.
Hope this helps?

Thanks Guard,
I have had another 'private' e-mail with detailed elaborations and I am presently awaiting permission from the sender so I can paste his comments into this thread, comments which contradict, agree and as well as offer new theories to all gone before.
So when we have them all here maybe we can draw our concrete conclusions.
Keep em coming!
Cheers.
Barry.

Barry, I was wrong, it is 68030 (as we knew her before her departure to pastures new) and not Shropshire. Note that the name is in two halves - sort of gives the game away really and I should have spotted it. The frames are for another loco now also since left our shores in the form of 80136. Shame all the nice locos that worked our line have all left and we have been left with "foriegn dross". Still, I hear a second S160 is in the pipeline.
