Following the recent clean-up operation at Leekbrook, it seems Longsdon has also had a small make-over too. I notice the access road has been made more er.. accessible? So maybe this is going to be the entry point for future 'reclaimation' work on the Stoke line? Note even the bridge has been improved, with new barriers fitted too.

Forgive me for my lack of local knowledge (I live near Manchester!) but where exactly is Longsdon? Is it on the Leek-Stoke line or is it another Staffordshire branch/stub?
I spot track and what look like old platforms - was this area completely overgrown previously?

Hi Chris.
Longsdon is about halfway between Leekbrook and Endon on the Stoke line.
I think the station there was called Wall Grange but can't be sure. I am sure others will know and advise.
The point where I took the photos shows the cleared line that was unseen from the same viewpoints before. And if you walk down the trackbed towards Leekbrook from there it soon becomes very overgrown again where you can hardly see the tracks even when walking alongside it! So there is a LOT of work to do if it is re-opened again as is speculated.
Cheers.

Hi Barry, Yes it is Wall Grange Station, interesting that work has started on clearing back the overgrowth, it would be one of the logical parts to start as there are not that many points of entry to the tracks. Perhaps things are starting to happen, as bridges on the line seemed to have been strengthened as well. Keep us informed when you can with photos. Thomas
