When are the cvr going to get their galas right? Enthusiasts need to know in advance what is hapening on the gala front so they can plan which gala to go on any weekend. All we get is information to follow. We need to know the timetables, whats pulling when, any additional attractions or stalls, any static engines, if so where will they be on display. Any trips to Oakamoor on the DMU, anything else that might attract us. Come on get the infomation out to as many people as possible to make it a great success.

Sadly, I have to agree with you on this topic.
It seems that the CVR events for 2011 are just non-existent. Nothing of any real interest at all to tempt anyone to make plans to visit. All other preserved sites have their events already published and unlike the CVR, not many cancel them once announced.
What I can't understand is after the successful (well it was a success as far as I am concerned) Cauldon Lowe events, not a dicky bird about any new trips planned up the line.
Instead of capitalising on the new 'novelty' the CVR/MCR seem to have just forgotten it ever happened.
As I say, sad for me to have to criticise but I do feel bad about this.

Looking at the webcams, when working, it did not seem well patronized. Not surprising with just 2 locos and a dmu. As usual poor information as to what was going on, last minite changes, surely they knew at least a week or two that the other 2 locos were not going to make it. Were there any stands or static locos to view?. Just seems like give minimum info out, people will still come no matter what. Those that did come seemed to enjoy it but it could have been so much better with some organisation

In some fairness, some of this went a bit pear shaped after one of the main Diesel men collapsed at work and was rushed to hospital and had to have his appendix removed. this has meant at least a 6 week absence for him from the CVR. Same said person was also working on the 33, which was advertised to be running. Unfortunately, with some projects like a locomotive, there are always some bits that frankly only one or two persons know how to put back - and one of these bits was the wiring to the loco - all the traction cables were disconnected and removed for the re-welding of a new loco floor that they sit in under the walk ways.
There is also the problem that the diesel group(s) are only made up of about 10 people, most of whom work shifts and at least 2 members who live 45 miles away, so it's a double big ask from them for staffing - especially when they have other rolls as guard or signalman around the line to also have to staff, so they are not always on the footplate !
Yes, we must try harder... Noted comments and will pass on to take on board.
