Oh GOD! i Hate that VEP. Me and Phill Jones spent absolutely ages fixing the electrics in that damp, cold, smelly, fly filled rust bucket. Some one should put it out of it's misery & cut it up to make dishwashers of something.

I for one will be pleased to see it running again, it should look fine in BR Blue. It will fit in with the 33 and who knows we may get a 73 back in someday. Are 37s compatable with the 4vep unit?.

I don't think they are. Just some southern locos
I would just like to apologise for my over reaction towards the VEP, & now it is to be properly restored, I might welcome it if it's restored well.

Theres a great picture of the first coach of the 4vep repainted in br blue by Dave Gibson, can't wait to see the full unit, hope it's done for the diesel gala. If you want to see it contact Dave and ask to be put on his e-mail list.

Hi Thomas.
I am a big fan of Dave Gibson's photos.
Do you have his e-mail address so I can ask to be put on his list?
Cheers.

Should be interesting to see the 4VEP unit at the diesel gala, it will only be 1/2 painted in the new blue livery. So 2 liveries on 1 unit pulled by the 73 and 33 it will make for some different photos.Looking forward to the gala with the Deltic, 20 73, 37,33 and even the Janus on passenger duties, hope you're all going, might see you there. Well I rode on the 4vep unit last weekend, it rode very smoothly and was comfortable. It looks good in it's hybrid livery and the C+W made a nice job on the 2 carriages, so well done to them. With running them it eased the overcrowding problem that we normally get on galas but it was difficult to judge how many people actually attended, well done to the organizers it will be difficult to better this one.
