Here's an older picture on CVR in early days of service to Froghall but before work started on the station building showing Standard 4 tank number 80136 on the train service. To me, seems a shame that this engine seems to be "stuck" on the West Somerset anybody know if and when it might be coming back to the CVR? John

That's another great shot John.
I remember those days and the Std 4 is one of my favourites.
I suppose you could say my two most best favourite locos are the Black Fives and the 4F. Both because they were so prevalent in my youth and so bring back memories, but the Fives were very 'pretty' too.
Didn't one run on the CVR not so long ago? I'm a comparative newcomer to the CVR history of locos, but I am sure there was one running once?
Love to see it again if so.
And why can't the 4F and the Std 4 be returned? Are they not CVR property? Or maybe CVR registered?

I've posted a shot of 45407 at Consall in a separate thread. As far as the 4F and the Standard 4 tank are concerned, so far as I know they are owned by an independant group or groups. The 4F is owned by the 4422 Loco Fund www.44422.co.uk/index.htmlI'm not sure who owns the Standard 4 tank. I think the suggestion was that the Group that owns the 4F had to take out a big loan to pay for the rebuild and that they could earn more in running fees by going to thte East Lancs rather than back here to the CVR. Apologies to anybody if I have this wrong would stand to be put right by anybody who knows better. John
